Dear Capri Community,
Greetings from your music teacher Mr. Jon Schwartz! As you know we have a multicultural winter break spirit assembly on Thursday 12/20 in the morning on the quad.
Kinder is going to be singing and doing an easy fun dance to “Feliz Navidad” that we’ve already gone over in music wheel class, and the teachers can review it often in class. Below is the link to the karaoke version of the song.
First and second grades are going to be singing, dancing, and playing some instruments to Chuck Berry’s “Run Run Rudolph”. I made a karaoke for it, and also dance moves, which you can see below below. I have 3 daughters (12, 18, and 20) and that’s the youngest one in the video.

Third and fourth grades are going to be doing a remix I made of “The Dreidel Song”. I will attach the dance moves, music parts, and words below.

Fifth and sixth grades are going to do a song I wrote called “Watch Us Move”. It’s ultra-easy and fun. It has a call and response element and cool repeating phrases and dance moves designed to get people involved the first time they see it- kind of like the Macarena or Electric Slide, but different. It has neat modeled dance moves on video, as you can see below.

Finally, I wrote another song called “Capri Rocks”, and it comes with dance moves. This is a somewhat more complicated hip-hop song. Kids and adults are encouraged to learn it, and we can dance to it in future assemblies. The kids and I are also going to be making a music video featuring the song; I’d love for them to be involved in the scripting, filming, and editing.
Thanks for letting me work with all of your awesome children in Wheel and I hope to see you on the 20th! After winter break we will be continuing our transition into ukuleles and other different instruments. Please feel to drop me a line at Jonathan.Schwartz@eusd.net
